CILIBANGI
UNIVERSITY: UNIVERSITI KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA (UKM)
CLUSTER: AGRICULTURE
DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT
NOVELTY OF PRODUCT :
Cilibangi varieties were intentionally designed to facilitate mechanically fruit harvesting based on the formulation of plant architectural ratio (3 main stem : 6 plant height : 4 canopy diameter) and plant biomass ratio (7 fruit weight : 1 leaf weight : 2 skeleton weight). Both these ideal ratios would prevent plant lodging due to heavier fruit eight. After intensive evaluation of chilli accessions with disease symptom screenings, parental selection, hybridization and local verification trials, six resistant Cilibangi varieties were successfully developed and ready to be pre-commercialized. With different special morphoagronomic traits for each variety, small farmers and commercial companies throughout Malaysia will have choices to suit their needs.
FEATURES OF PRODUCT :
Disease resistance, superior morphoagronomic traits that include early flowering (+ 70 days), synchronized fruit maturity, ideal plant height (60–90 cm), and high yielding. Synchronized maturity additionally facilitates mechanized harvesting.
